WRVS Recycling Appeal (dated: 2007-02-21)

The WRVS Lisbon has launched an innovative new fundraising campaign. The WRVS Recycling Appeal, run with recycling experts, allows the public to raise cash for the charity simply by sending in their old mobile phones. With new and more up to date mobiles coming onto the market, people are replacing their handsets more often than ever before. The old ones usually end up binned, or are thrown in a cupboard or draw adding to the millions of redundant mobiles piling up across Europe. Lots of offices throw them out - why not donate them instead? You will be helping WRVS and the environment without it costing you a penny! The sets usually end up in landfill sites where they can cause pollution - as they slowly break down, chemicals can leak into the surrounding soil. Recycling prevents this pollution.
People in the Algarve can deliver the phones to the Griffin Book Shop, Almancil.
In the Lisbon area, please deliver, in an envelope, marked WRVS to St. Paul's Church Estoril between 10 a.m. and 12 noon or telephone Ruth Hurst 919351921 or Barbara Gray 214659048.
