The British Embassy in Lisbon, in partnership with the National Archives - Torre do Tombo, are pleased to announce that Portugal will be one of the countries included in the Magna Carta Global Tour, to commemorate its 800 years. Over the course of four months an original version of the Magna Carta from 1217 and the only surviving King’s Writ from Runnymede in 1215, on loan from Hereford Cathedral, will tour seven countries and four continents, travelling a total of approximately 65,000 miles. The tour will include New York, Luxembourg, China, Australia, Singapore, Malta and Portugal, in the second week of December.
We are finishing the 2015/2016 school year with the attached newsletter of July.
This month we had Summer Workshops, meetings and lots of work to guarantee that the next year is going to be as successful as this one. We believe it will be!

The Institute for Political Studies hereby congratulates Professor João Carlos Espada for the award, last May 12, of the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit by the Republic of Poland – an award assigned to “foreigners who have contributed in an exceptional way for international cooperation and for the cooperation between the Republic of Poland and other countries”. (In January 2012, Professor João Carlos Espada was awarded the Bene Merito Distinction by Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland; in June 2010, he was awarded The Medal of Gratitude by the European Solidarity Centre at Gdansk.)
