On 25th June, Riding for the Disabled in Cascais held its second Open Day and was pleased to welcome 30 riders, their families and friends for a morning of fun and games followed by refreshments. Many parents do not often have the opportunity of seeing their children actually sitting on a horse and this was a source of admiration and pride for many. They were also able to chat to RDA volunteers, staff and board members, receive feed back and discuss specific difficulties and also to mingle with other parents, families and friends.
The month of July was dedicated to holiday activities for specific groups including, 5ª. Essencia, Lar Branco Rodrigues (blind children), Casa de Alapraia and Project LUCAS (for motor handicapped youngsters and their families).
RDA riding instructor Antonio Manoel went on a three day course in order to obtain credits for up-dating his professional licence.
RDA received a donation from St. George’s Society of €350,00. for which it is very grateful This money will go into the Association funds and will be used to support one of the more needy children from a local school during the 2016/17 school year.
Horses, staff and volunteers are now all on holiday until September.
