BCC Multi Sports day 21 June 2014 - 14 teams, loads of willing volunteers and great spirit ensured a great day of fun at the BCC community games at St Julian's School.
Each of the teams competed in Lacrosse, Football, Touch Rugby, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey and Scottish Country Dancing for the cup.
The overall winners were 'the Lame Train' with the Fairplay award going to 'All Saints'.
Alternative games for individuals who wanted to join in the fun, consisted of Badminton, Boules and Quoits. Even with 2 more performances of Pygmalion to perform this weekend, the Lisbon Players were the resounding winners here!
Children's hat decoration by Margarida from the D'Arte project and a bouncy castle added fun for the little ones.
The BCC also thanked David Smith for all his help on the committee and his unfailing help in the community. We wish him all the best as he leaves St Julian's and moves to his new headmaster-ship in Leipzig.
As well as the team players, the event required the support of many volunteers to be successful. The games umpires in their various double roles, the BBQ and drinks stalls volunteers, the WRVS and their superb cake stall, Margarida at the D'Arte project, St Julian's school staff and pupils and Ambulance staff from the Bombeiros are a vital part of this day.
All profits raised this year will be going to Centro Social Paroquial de Barcarena, to help run badly needed job training schemes for the Barcarena area.
Many thanks to all the volunteers and participants. It was a great community day!
